Description
Role purpose: Drive the overall data and analytics strategy for the business, building and developing a team to drive the advancement of data driven culture through adoption of the D&A portfolio and products. The role is responsible for advance business performance management by using data science for predictions, target setting and tracking. The function is required to drive the digitalisation and advancement of all performance tracking and monthly performance reviews. The hire will oversee the Data Transformation & Engineering, Data Governance & Quality, Performance & Analytics as well as MIS teams.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
• Advance the data driven culture through even greater adoption of the D&A portfolio
• Implement analytical solutions to base management
• Advanced performance tracking through digital self-service reporting platform, predictive capability & automated target allocation
• Corporate Data Governance enabled to support high quality, secured data assets
• Ensure the continuously development and engagement of the team
Core competencies, knowledge and experience
• Ability to understand business requirement and determine data flows to support development of KPIs
• Deep understanding of financial accounting and ability to design and build customer level financials in line with IFRS
• Extensive experience querying large, complex data sets and experience in working in visualisation tools like Qlik Sense or Qlik View.
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL).
• Agile & Project Management experience – proven track record in successful implementations of complex Data Driven Initiatives.
• Stakeholder Management – Proactive collaboration and stakeholder management specifically with MEs and qliksense users
Key performance indicators
• Percentage of Increase penetration of D&A analytics in business units through (1) portfolio reviews (2) measurement of penetration into intended users
• Percent of qliksense users over the expected users
• Percentage of KPIs where budget allocation is determined using mathematical optimisation
• Number of duplicate & shadow solutions or reports decommissioned
• Percentage of data assets that are subject to the data governance control implementation
• The percentage point improvement in data quality score for assets under the data governance framework
• Percentage of month end KPIs supplied to FP&A that are fully automated by D&A
Must have technical / professional qualifications
• Honours degree in Accounting or Finance, or advance understanding of financial reporting/statements as well as financial performance KPIs
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and working with relational databases
• 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineering and/or data amanagement role
• Data Warehouse experience , Datago a plus
• Certification in relevant BI cloud, data management and visualisation tools considered to be favourable
• Comfortable working in Agile with formal training completed
